On behalf of my YouTube buddy
VolatileHayami
I’d like to share some info about good old Juju bastard Paxe
Paxe is actually 5 years older than Sadie.
She mishappened back in Italy (and her names Carmella actually)
Juju technically abandoned her when she was five... she didn’t take that too well.
When she was 19 she set out to find him again (I’m pretty sure her mother also passed away)
[That’s why she was hugging him so tightly in the picture]
She later learns spinny spinny magic and I actually game her a stand called Thousand Words
She has this large mouth on the back of her head that has a long younger that can grab shit and stab people
That’s why she wears a big cowboy hat to cover it up.
It’s also a sentimental item to her (Juju gave it to her) so don’t steal it!
Paxe’s a lot like Juju, cocky and full of herself (but she’s really a sweetheart)
She’s very passionate and has this childish energy
You best give her your love too partner
🔫🤠
Ok so, when Juju abandoned her, could that be when he left Naples to go to America and race in the Steel Ball Run? If so, then he was 24 and he could have had Paxe when he was 19 years old. But he figured that his reasons for participating in the race to save Marco's life was more important than to stick around for Paxe, so he just kinda...left. He may have had intentions on returning to Naples and to her, but maybe he didn't voice them to anyone. Then the race kinda came and went and...
Well! Assuming that in this AU Gyro survives being shot, maybe he didn't return to Naples after all, and thus Paxe was left there by herself. Or! Perhaps she found her crafty little way on another boat to America and eventually crossed paths with her father on God's good fortune. Maybe something like that, and all the while, she held onto her hat whenever she felt scared because it reminded her of her dad.
Then she knocks on Gyro and Johnny's front door, Gyro answers it, and he's all like wide-eyed and "why the hell aren't you in Naples?!" And she's like "Well, I don't wanna be away from my Papá anymore!"
At that time, maybe Johnny and Gyro already took Maggie into their home, and Johnny looks at his husband like "You have ANOTHER daughter??" Eventually, they end up taking her in because where else is this small child gonna go.
And then maybe a few months later, they go back over to Naples to visit Anastasia and BOOM! They're left with Sadie and so return to America with three young daughters in tow. All the while, Johnny's thinking, "Gyro, you're a hot mess."
Idk just in the end Gyro's got three daughters to look out after and honestly, it's more than he bargained for lol!
Ok but now I wanna write a fanfic about the "misadventures of the Zeppeli cousins" with a few chapters or so featuring Gyro's struggles in tackling fatherhood head-on after the race and proving to his dad and to Johnny that he can make up for his past mistakes by raising all three girls. Cue shenanigans when the girls fight for their father's attention and when Sadie runs away from home that one time because she felt like she was being neglected. They find her, of course, and give a stern talking to her, but I don't think that they can really be too mad at her.

Silly Christmas HC of Juju based on my Sims 4 addiction: I would love to see a story where Juju met MC via Mysme's version of Etsy. Juju wanted to get Elly a Christmas present and he was impressed with MC's works. On a silly note, do u reckon Elly gets cute Christmas cat hat or a cute Christmas bow?
Bow. Elizabeth would get a cute little holiday bow. Now, I can’t stop thinking about Jumin meeting a crafty MC that wants to model things with Elizabeth the 3rd because she’s purrfect for the job and Jumin clearly is a fan of anyone that sees Elizabeth’s talent.

Wanna Play as a FUCKING CATGIRL?
Sorry this took FUCKING FOREVER. I forgot how much goes into making a D&D race. But I think it’s finally halfway decent!
Also, this isn’t the surprise I mentioned. Stay tuned for that thing!
~
Half-Tabaxi/Neko
Half-tabaxi – or as they prefer, neko or nekomimi – are the product of unions between a tabaxi and a different humanoid. Laymen incorrectly refer to neko as “catgirls,” even though neko cover the gender spectrum. However, most neko won’t correct anyone that uses the term “catgirl;” especially if there’s something to be gained from the offender.
Catlike Characteristics
Curiously, half-tabaxi keep the base of their more humanoid non-tabaxi parent – only retaining a few feline features. The only common feature between half-tabaxi are their cat ears. Neko are born with a variety of other feline features: cat eyes, whiskers, fangs, claws, tails, furry hands and feet, etc. Strangely, half-tabaxi never grow fur all over their body, nor do any of them develop catlike noses.
On average, half-tabaxi are a few inches shorter than humans, with slim attractive features. Males and females tend to look so similar, one is often confused for the other – hence the misnomer “catgirls.” Neko often lean into their androgyny, blurring gender lines through choices in fashion, naming, behavior, etc.
Cat Sass
Half-tabaxi behave more like their feline parents, with the quirks of a stereotypical cat. Although these quirks are genuine tics and not just playacting, the neko are aware that people find their behavior endearing; something they’re all too willing to use to their advantage.
Your typical neko is capricious and flirtatious, equally silly and spontaneous as they are crafty and conniving.
Feline Behavioral Quirk
You order milk at the bar. Served in a saucer.
You lick every inch of your bare skin when you’re ready to settle down. Or when you’re bored.
Lazy
Easily distracted and amused by light phenomenon.
You kill small animals and drop them at your friends’s and family’s feet.
You knock objects off of shelves and tables. On purpose.
You hiss at dogs and other creatures that resemble canines.
You sit in unusual places that aren’t meant for sitting (rubbish bins, backpacks, bookshelves, etc.)
General disinterest.
You disappear for hours on end.
You crawl on your friends while they sleep.
You make ridiculous noises in the middle of the night for no reason.
You say “nya” at the end of every sentence.
You curl up in people’s laps, unprompted.
You sharpen your claws on furniture.
You pretend you’re not listening on hours on end, for no apparent reason.
Will nap on any warm object.
You stay up all night.
You need to run back and forth for a few minutes, at least once a day.
Roll twice.
Social Drifters
Half-tabaxi hold a similar social standing to half-elves – if just a bit more favorable, due to their infectious attitudes.
Many half-tabaxi gravitate towards the adventuring life. Many more become wandering merchants or entertainers. It’s rare to find half-tabaxi in any positions of power; as nobles, merchant lords, kingpins, etc. They don’t lack the social prowess to attain these positions, nor the capacity of skill to retain them, but their attention spans and playful natures usually don’t allow it. However, many make a killing (pardon the pun) as hired assassins or thieves. They just won’t stick with a guild for long.
Half-tabaxi are sexually compatible with most other humanoid races. Children with neko produce more neko. Unless a half-tabaxi reproduces with a full tabaxi; then there’s an equal chance of producing either a half-tabaxi or what appears to be a full tabaxi.
Large gatherings of neko are rare. They’re usually found scattered throughout tabaxi settlements, in large cities where many different races are common, wandering with adopted families, or they’re total loners.
Many neko adopt the same faith as their parents. Others usually worship gods of trickery, freedom, life, luck, and beauty.
Half-Tabaxi/Neko Names
Many neko take on the naming conventions of their non-tabaxi parent. But many half-tabaxi that give into their natural wanderlust take on cutesy, short, and simple names that are almost more like sound effects.
Names: Aki, Axa, Boomboom, Chacha, Chi, Chika, Chuchu, Chuzi, Dingding, Eri, Ishi, Jin, Jing, Jiro, Juju, Jun, Kako, Keke, Kizy, Koko, Kou, Mei, Meko, Mimi, Mojo, Mymzy, Nana, Nao, Nimi, Nini, Ooga, Pon, Ren, Riko, Rin, Shachu, Sisi, Yoshi, Yuki
Half-Tabaxi/Neko Traits
Ability Score Increase. Your Charisma increases by 2, and your Dexterity increases by 1.
Age. Neko lifespans are comparable to humans. If the neko’s non-tabaxi parent is significantly longer- or shorter-lived than a human, this affects the offspring’s lifespan accordingly.
Alignment. Half-tabaxi tend towards chaotic alignments
Size. Your size is Medium.
Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet.
Darkvision. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.
Endearing Aura. You have proficiency in Persuasion.
Lucky Cat. When you roll a 1 on an ability check or saving throw that uses Charisma or Dexterity, you can reroll the die. You must use the new roll.
Feline Prowess. Choose 1 of the following:
Feline Agility. Your reflexes and agility allow you to move with a burst of speed. When you move on your turn in combat, you can double your speed until the end of the turn. Once you use this trait, you can't use it again until you move 0 feet on one of your turns.
Cat's Claws. Because of your claws, you have a climbing speed of 20 feet. In addition, your claws are natural weapons, which you can use to make unarmed strikes. If you hit with them, you deal slashing damage equal to 1d4 + your Dexterity modifier, instead of the bludgeoning damage normal for an unarmed strike.
Cat's Talents. You have proficiency in the Perception and Stealth skills.
Languages. You speak Common and another language of your choice. Neko can also convey and understand simple ideas between unintelligent feline creatures.
~
Hope y’all enjoy this! I’m considering adding some subraces in an update.
Also, thank you to my lovely talented wife for wiping my screen when I said “I need to tidy up this post.”
Until next time!
ALSO Also: HOLY SHIT, 5Oth POST!!!!!

October 12th-October 18th, 2019 Creator Babble Archive
The archive for the Creator Babble chat that occurred from October 12th, 2019 to October 18th, 2019.  The chat focused on the following question:
Of your story’s characters, who is your favorite to write and why?  Also, who is your least favorite?
LadyLazuli (Phantomarine)
In Phantomarine (http://www.phantomarine.com/), my favorite AND least favorites to write for... are both of my villains My favorite to write for is the 'fun villain' - a character as quirky and dramatic as they are threatening. It's super satisfying to just get into their words and PLAY.(edited)
The other is the 'cold villain' - calculating and quiet and controlled. Dramatic fun villains are way more my thing, so writing one that's so restrained (combined with all the bad things I know she's done )... I genuinely dislike writing for her. She holds me back from having fun... AND she's a meanie
Deo101 (Millennium)
In millennium (https://millennium.spiderforest.com/) My favorite to write for is definitely Keith and Aaron... I know technically that's two characters but they practically count as one, so I'm gonna say them. I just really like writing their goofy interactions and their silly jokes, and the way they interact with eachother versus with everyone else.
I..... Don't have a least favorite to write honestly. If I had to pick one, I guess I would say the HARDEST person to write for is Kessiah, which I guess makes writing her scenes my least favorite? That's just because shes the newest character of the whole cast, though, so I don't know her as well. I still like writing her and I love the scenes shes in and shes super important, she's just harder so I dread some of her scenes because I don't quite know how to fit her in. (She was added kind of last minute, everyone else has been there years before I started!)
AntiBunny
In AntiBunny http://antibunny.net/ I've often said my favorite character to draw is Piago, but probably my favorite to write is Penelope, because of how organically she's grown over time. And she gives me a nice challenge to write because she always seeks non-violent solutions, and she doesn't live in the sort of world where that's always an option.
For least favorite, probably Malphas. He never shuts up, and that's tons of dialogue I have to work in. He's the kind of guy who uses ten words where one would do just fine. If he gets talking he can grind the pace to a halt. Juju I'd also say is difficult to write. Readers want another chapter with her, but honestly, her kind of grim humor really isn't my cup of tea anymore. I've grown as a person and she hasn't, so I'm not really sure what to do with her.
snuffysam
For Super Galaxy Knights Deluxe R: http://sgkdr.thecomicseries.com/comics/ Mizuki and Taci are definitely the most fun to write, especially when they're interacting with each other. Mizuki is the perfect roaster, and Taci is the perfect roast target, so I'm not sure I can pick a favorite between them. For least favorite... either Cahe or Gynu. Gynu has very little personality besides being loud and powerful. He serves as a counter to Suzigu's lazy/annoyed attitude I suppose, but on his own he doesn't really do much for me. Cahe is a bit more entertaining, and while he's not particularly complex I am glad that his kind, mostly innocent personality is a part of the comic. The real issue with Cahe is his powerset - it's basically impossible to work him back into the story as a fighter because of how his ability works.
HiddenElephant
For The Wide Ocean: http://thewideocean.thecomicseries.com/
Most fun to write: Zahrah. Unsurprisingly one of the main characters, the reason why she's fun to write is because it's surprisingly fun to see which poor decision she'll make next, or she's bonding / living with the people around her.
Least fun to write: Paea. A minor character who's hard to remember. I don't have an especially good grip on her character, and a lot of the time it feels like I'm writing her because the plot calls for a sharkfolk who fills the niche she fills; someone we know, who is a little bit of a jerk but not as much of a jerk as another character.
Steph (@grandpaseawitch)
In http://oldmanandtheseawitch.tumblr.com/ I only really have two main characters are the moment and one I only partially write for, as Ains belongs to his creator and I'm essentially using him on loan. So technically, it'd be Witchy. Truth be told, it's also Witchy because he's basically male-Yzma, he likes being mean and nasty, he's a dramatic, crafty fish-man with an eye for pretty things and absolutely zero ability to be introspective on his own feelings. But there's a strange, surprising depth and sympathy to him where he should otherwise be unsympathetic.
For non main characters, probably Hiro. He's such a goofy little fisherman and will invariably be doing something stupid in the background. I love him. I would die for him.
Least favorite... gosh. I try to make every character a character I would love writing for or could make a main story for, so that's honestly pretty hard. There's King [Redacted], who will not show up for a LONG time but his characterization is always slippery for me--unlike his son. Who is somewhere in the character page but also won't show up for a long time.
@LadyLazuli (Phantomarine) VILLAINS VILLAINS VILLAINS ARE THE BEST TO WRITE FOR
LadyLazuli (Phantomarine)
@Steph (@grandpaseawitch) THERE IS NO DOUBT ABOUT THAT
HiddenElephant
Actually, I'd debate that, especially when they are irrevocably cruel, violent, self-serving and delusional.
keii4ii
Well, some people genuinely have a ton of fun writing characters like that. Whatever Floats Your Boat and To Each Their Own
kayotics
yeah I gotta agree with Keii, sometimes people just love writing villains. And sometimes those are the most fun? You don't have to write them winning, either
keii4ii
I love lawful good/ lawful neutral characters, good or bad, both as a creator and as a reader. But I'm fully aware that not everyone likes them, and that's okay!
LadyLazuli (Phantomarine)
True! I know Steph and I definitely lean more in the villain/antihero-centric direction, but depending on your story’s aim - and the kind of villain you’re writing - it can either be a chore or a delight. Writing stalwart, lawful-good heroes is a nightmare for me, in comparison. It’s just not something I’m strong at
keii4ii
(psst lawful good does not always a hero make. You can totally have lawful good losers :'D)
kayotics
i think most of my favorite characters to write are chaotic in nature, whether they're villain or hero, or even just a side character, so really there's all sorts of directions you can go
keii4ii
Yeah!
Steph (@grandpaseawitch)
Lawful-good is an alignment that sees very little action in my writing, haha. As an entity of chaos myself, it tends to leak into my characters.
But the worst of the worst, the True Villain, is absolutely a delight to write. I've written a few bad-end versions of Witchy like that in other universes and they were IMMENSELY fun.
LadyLazuli (Phantomarine)
A lawful good loser is actually a character I’m currently trying to write. He’s right on the edge of what I’m comfortable with. A layered kind of good. Good that means well, but suffers on the way to goodness. It’s a great exercise, and I’m starting to genuinely love him. A golden hero who always succeeds and does the right thing... may actually show up as a secondary villain someday, in comparison 🤫
Steph (@grandpaseawitch)
Oh! I may not have a LAwful Good character, but... there is one for a main character.
Which is Mister Ains. :3
So there is technically one in the comic.
He's a fun kind of LAwful Good because... he was originally the type of Order Is Very Important type of Lawful Good. A good heart, but sometimes might have put rules above people, and over the years, learned how to be the more "Good Is More Important Than Order" kind of lawful good. Which, to bring things back around to the topic, is why he's a very fun character to write, and probably the most fun of the characters on loan to me.
Erin Ptah (BICP | Leif & Thorn)
I would put "Good Is More Important Than Order" under Neutral Good, personally. (Assuming it doesn't go all the way to "good is more important because order is useless," which sounds like Chaotic Good.)
Lawful Good seems like a tough alignment to write -- maybe the toughest? Because it's unrealistic for there to be no unjust laws. If the character starts off earnestly believing all the laws are for a good purpose, that works, but eventually they're going to find a bad one and be forced to choose...
Deo101 (Millennium)
I've always thought of it more like "do good and dont break any laws"
Erin Ptah (BICP | Leif & Thorn)
But sometimes, the only good thing to do is breaking the law.
Extreme examples are things like "you're legally required to report on your neighbors if they question the government, and anyone who's reported mysteriously disappears in the night."
keii4ii
One way to go about it is they die trying to change the law the legal way (or the closest possible), e.g. getting killed while doing a peaceful protest
or a suicide protest that doesn't involve physically threatening/harming others (e.g. self incineration protests by Buddhist monks)
Nutty (Court of Roses)
the Player's Handbook for D&D: "Lawful Good creatures can be counted on to do the right thing as expected by society."(edited)
keii4ii
Also, lawful good doesn't have to mean "the MOST upper-est left-est corner possible in the alignment graph." You can be like, 90% lawful 88% good or something.
Nutty (Court of Roses)
"Neutral Good folk do the best they can to help others according to their needs. Chaotic Good creatures act as their conscious directs, with little regard to what others expect."
keii4ii
That too. Society =/= the government
at least, not in every case!
Erin Ptah (BICP | Leif & Thorn)
Yeah, "expectations of society" is a different standard from "laws of society." And it'll vary from subgroup to subgroup, so if the character sticks to "the expectations off my social circle that believes it's wrong to inform on our neighbors," it's easier to maintain.
Nutty (Court of Roses)
Yeah! i was double checking the book and saw that description, and for that very reason is why i brought it up
Erin Ptah (BICP | Leif & Thorn)
You'd still have to always associate with a group that shares your current values, so you'd have to deal with conflict by convincing people to come around to your point of view...that, or dumping them and finding a new friend group...
keii4ii
As someone who consistently tests lawful good, I genuinely don't get why this is any harder than any other alignment! Like... I'm not lawful good 100% of the time, but I'm still closest to that alignment than any other, overall!
Erin Ptah (BICP | Leif & Thorn)
I mean, I probably follow the local laws 90% of the time, but I wouldn't say that makes me Lawful so much as lucky!
keii4ii
Just because some evil-aligned villain has the occasional Pet The Dog moment, doesn't necessarily make them good or even neutral, yeah?
Erin Ptah (BICP | Leif & Thorn)
...no? But I'm not sure that's the same issue.
keii4ii
Say a lawful good character breaks a rule they consider to be fundamental to being lawful. It can happen. One key difference, for me, is how they deal with it afterward.
Deo101 (Millennium)
I like to think of it more as a tendancy than a hard set rule, too
Nutty (Court of Roses)
I myself consider Merlow Chaotic Good, but not because he's a wacky unpredictable guy, he just goes with the flow and what feels right to him.
Erin Ptah (BICP | Leif & Thorn)
So would the difference be that "lawful good" feels bad/guilty/distraught about having to break the rule, whereas "neutral good" doesn't feel attached to the rule, just satisfied that they did the right thing?
Nutty (Court of Roses)
that sounds about right
or at least, the LG one would be self conscious about it and worry about what others think
keii4ii
Maybe not even "what others think"
Erin Ptah (BICP | Leif & Thorn)
NG would probably worry about that to some extent too, just for practical reasons.
keii4ii
depending on the situation
Nutty (Court of Roses)
true
Erin Ptah (BICP | Leif & Thorn)
But "willing to break the law for the greater good, just beats themself up about it afterward" is a much easier character type to sustain than what I was thinking!
Nutty (Court of Roses)
yeah!
keii4ii
like, it could be more about... worry about what they believe others SHOULD think (this can be very relevant if there is a big rift in the society with regards to what's right -- maybe they're in the minority, and don't feel guilty about acting contrary to what the majority believes to be right)
(I really like parentheses in case you haven't noticed)
Erin Ptah (BICP | Leif & Thorn)
(lol me too)
Nutty (Court of Roses)
(whisper whisper)
Erin Ptah (BICP | Leif & Thorn)
So that goes back to the "LG character adheres to the rules of their particular subculture" idea.
keii4ii
That sounds about right
Though there could be exceptions -- like, what if that subculture is all about anarchism?
Erin Ptah (BICP | Leif & Thorn)
Chaotic Lawful!
And given the history of real-world attempts at anarchist communities, we know that one can only sustain itself about five minutes before self-destructing...
Nutty (Court of Roses)

The box contains...
... a Raggedy Andy doll.
But, upon further inspection, it's a customized one:
Tumblr media
A couple of flaps of red fabric (spirals carefully drawn on) stitched to its head like ears; wood antlers poked into its forehead; a pair of glasses imprecisely but carefully embroidered onto its face; pants, eyes, hands, and glasses lenses dyed red; feet and hair tips dyed darker; and a new bright red ribbon tied around its neck like a bow.
"I'm not as crafty as you; I can't sew my own," Buck admits, reaching over to pat Raggedy Cal's head. "But I've got almost a century of practice at taking the stuffing out of dolls and making them jujus and poppets."
Indeed, the pleasant fragrance is stronger now that the box is open, herbal and earthy—the doll's certainly been stuffed with something. It makes a crinkly sound as it's picked up from whatever's been stuffed inside of it... and it also gives off a faint radio signal.
"Human magics come weaker to me than they used to—but it should still help protect you, and you can use it as a substitute or double for yourself. And of course, I'm sure you can make its magic stronger, if you're so inclined!"
concubuck:
The box is filled with audiobooks—mostly things in the horrory, murdery, suspensy areas (Algernon Blackwood, Agatha Christie, Stephen King; Hannibal, Dexter, Carnacki the Ghost-Finder, American Psycho)—all books he’s read himself and enjoyed but hasn’t noticed on Cal’s shelves—but underneath the audiobooks is… a new, higher-quality set of headphones specially designed for sinners with animal ears to wear.
“Didn’t I promise I’d get you a better set?” And he’s so proud he remembered.
He recognizes some of the titles, but not all. The ones he does recognize earn a soft ‘oo!’ as they’re pulled out and set on his coffee table. The ones he doesn’t recognize…still get a soft ‘oo!’ as they’re pulled out and set on his coffee table. If his other self likes them, he probably will too, so why would his enthusiasm go down at all?
The headphones are spotted once he’s gotten them out. Okay, that earns a bit more of an enthusiastic ‘a!!’ before he’s reaching in to pull them out and look them over with a happy grin. “You did! Still…!” He’s clearly thrilled to be getting them, despite the promise. They, too, are set on the coffee table, albeit with a bit more carefulness than he did with the audiobooks.
Well now he’s just all the more eager to open the other box—which is exactly what he’s moving to do.

Hey! So. You've maid it a point to emphasize how Lords and Muses are not inherently more powerful than the regular classes, and that Lord English was an exception and cheated his way to power. That being said, do you think it would be fair to say that any classpect can rise to LE level power if they're crafty and cheaty enough?
Mhm!
Part of it is still related to him being a cherub. Like part of his cheating was having the clockwork majjyks which are tied to the infinite energy cherubs have when mating. So those energy blasts are a biiit of an edge
But otherwise!
Fuse with a first guardian?
Make a soul slurpy with offshoots? (He never absorbed a whole soul, only a sprite + a splinter + half of another soul)
Somehow manage to get your hands on a juju or two?
Yeah, anyone can cheat their way to that level. I think the big difference is LE made a big sustainable timeloop from it to make sure it never went poorly or got messed up somehow. So anyone not a Time player would have to find a way to make that cheating/gamebreaking sustainable
And if they are crafty they can toootally make it work
So yeah! They can totally do it!

Jesus teaches us in the Gospel of Mark 3 v 23-27 that we have to bind the strongman. So in prayers of Spiritual Warfare we have to bind the strongman, because it is the strongmen who are Satan’s generals. The strongmen control the demons who create havoc in Believers’ lives.
We will expose today 12 demonic strongmen and all the demons under their authority and control. We have included a Scripture from God’s own word which exposes each strongman.
1. THE SPIRIT OF JEALOUSY: Psalm 37:1
Controlling the spirits of envy, hate, bitterness, unforgiveness, vengefulness, anger, violence, rage and murder
———————————————
2. THE LYING SPIRIT: Proverbs 12:22
Controlling the spirits of deception, exaggeration, falsehood, guile, false doctrine, false religions and craftiness

The Den Fantasy League Weekly Recap: Week 5
Boys, Boys, Boys,
We’re in the thick of it. COVID has taken its toll in our league (some more than others) and we’re working on keeping up to date with all the changes going on. It’s a league effort and I’m grateful for your flexibility. On to the recap.
Team Timshel v. Tua Days
Vinny has seen some highs and lows from his team. Coming into this game at .500 he thought he had a chance to get into the win column again but his team couldn’t muster up enough to even surpass 100 points on the weekend. All but three of his players had double figures and was led by CeeDee but was impacted by the Bengals Defense limiting Lamar to only 13.5 (*Berman Voice* HUUUUHHHHH?????) Speaking of Defense, the other one in that game was the highest scorer for Mike this week at 25 and he also had Russ’s 24+ to help get him in position to take down Vin. Unfortunately for Vinny, there was still one game left on Tuesday. Derrick Henry used up all his pent-up energy from not playing in almost two weeks to stiff-arm Josh Norman into oblivion and get 18+ points to seal Mike’s victory.
Tumblr media
Kalabar’s Revenge v. The Perfect Ten
The two former roommates faced off this week and it paired up our undefeated, October powerhouse G vs. our two-time champ E. G went with Minshew mania to help get his team to victory and he got a solid start with 19+ points. He was also aided by Dalvin and Ridley scoring 17+ points but ultimately came our flat in too many other areas including his RB2 and Flex combining for 1.8 points. Not great. He was also going up against this week’s highest scorer which doesn’t help. E had 24+ from three different players (DK, Davis, and Mahomes) and was held up by them despite having -4 from his D. E’s team might be hitting their stride at the right time and looking for his third title in five years. Dynasty status?
Tumblr media
Virginia Reel Rockets v. Mr. Magorium’s Mixon It Up
On to another Ryle boy taking on Alexandria’s own. Gabe was facing half of a Kurse this week and thought he had overcome the bad juju. He has resisted getting Lupin involved thus far but that may have to change. He finally had a big game from Brees and 30+ points combined from two of his WRs but just couldn’t muster up enough to reach 100 points. Al has seen himself at the bottom for the early parts of this young season but now has picked up two wins and is one game off of being even. It helps to have three players in the twenties with Murray, Gurley, and Hopkins. Al’s team still isn’t the best but it’s going to take a lot of effort to win the league this year and, if you’re crafty enough, you may be able to win it all.
Tumblr media
Wilmore Cinderella v. Viking Quest
JP and Monday nights, a match made in hell. JP going into MNF with a lead is basically a loss. I don’t know what it’s going to take but the poor kid can’t seem to overcome the dreaded day of the week. What makes it worse is that he is now in CB territory for the second time in our league’s short existence. He had good games from Deshaun, Jacobs, and Freeman but other than his kicker everyone else was in single-figures. He even had -5 from his defense which never helps the cause. I was lucky enough to have a decent week despite having less than seven points from my QB. I’m done with the Falcons. DONE. NEVER AGAIN. Thankfully, I had some guys to pick me up. On Monday we had great help from Kennan and Hunter but it all comes down to one man. My highest scorer. My ride or die. Travis Kelce. Now to get back my COVID boys and, in the words of Coach Cal, “I like my team.” Eh, kinda.
Tumblr media
Fire Jarn v. 11-4-1 PVO
In our matchup of the year, we were all left wanting more. Year after year, we were treated with a Dylan win over Rob. Dylan in some ways would count on that game as a win. He saw it similar to a cupcake matchup for an easy win. Unfortunately, this wasn’t the year. Dylan, who has now seen his record fall to 1-4, still was able to put up a decent week thanks to Zeke and Gano putting up 20+ and a near 17 from Slayton. Yet this week was all Rob. Our second-highest scorer on the week came to play. He had pretty good consistency across the board and was led by Sloppy and Miles. He also had good games from Hill, A-Rob, and his fellow Robbie to take the victory. In a matchup of 1-3 teams, Robbie begins to change the narrative of his ability to beat Dylan.
Tumblr media
Hank Mardukas v. Debbie Rowe
This game. What a game. We’ll get to Tuesday night but first, let’s look at all the other factors that played into this game. Jake came in at 3-1 and was looking like a Team of Destiny. He, unfortunately, hit a snag. A snag called “half of Kurse”. He had a good game from Teddy, Carson, and Hunt but some roster decisions left him with regret (benching his little Cooper Kupp in favor of Jefferson). Scott had good games from Gaskin, Thielen, and Hollywood but saw his star QB fall with a season-ending injury. Scott was doing everything he could to muster up a win and finally sealed one on Monday night but then got bullied into putting his win on the line by playing Buff D. No way they could get -4. No way… right? They teased Jake as much as they could but all in all, they sealed the victory for Scott. Scott’s now out his top QB and his top RB. With this win, maybe the Team of Destiny tag should be moved to him. After all, Jake can’t close…

Eagles Film Room: Grading JJ Arcega-Whiteside
In the summer of 2018 I asked fellow Bleeding Green Nation contributor Benjamin Solak for a 2019 prospect to watch. The first name he gave me was JJ Arcega-Whiteside, the wide receiver from Stanford. As it turns out, the Philadelphia Eagles would select him 57th overall in the 2019 NFL Draft. It’s that early exposure to Arcega-Whiteside that led to me being over the moon about the selection.
The first game Ben directed me to was Stanford’s 2017 Alamo Bowl Game against TCU. He was truly dominant when given opportunities to make plays.
The performance instantly put Arcega-Whiteside on my radar. His basketball background was readily apparent and I was pleasantly surprised by his quick footwork. We had a big, strong player on our hands that understood how to maximize his athleticism with technique. This gave him a leg up on other prospects with impressive physical profiles but hadn’t figured out to do with all that size and speed.
Even when he wasn’t thrown the rock, he consistently created stacks in the vertical third and flashed separation ability in the short-to-intermediate areas. Not to mention – and this is a reoccurring theme – the attention he garnered from the safeties. Once they got bit a couple of times, defensive coordinators felt inclined to send as much help to their corners as they could. Despite the attention, Arcega-Whiteside compiled 63 catches, 1,059 yards and 14 touchdowns on his way to being a Biletnikoff Award semifinalist in 2018.
That’s not to say Arcega-Whiteside is a perfect, unstoppable wide receiver. If you put on the Notre Dame game from 2018, you’ll see new New York Giants’ cornerback Julian Love give him some issues.
There are areas to improve, like his hand usage throughout his route stem and at the top of his routes, but we’ll get into all that. The major question seems to be, can Arcega-Whiteside create separation?
According to Next Gen Stats, the average 40-yard dash for a top 20 separator in 2018 was 4.46 in the 40-yard dash. Seven of them ran over 4.50, four of them ran sub-4.40. For example, San Francisco 49ers’ rookie Dante Pettis ran a 4.48, but is an excellent technician and came in at 10th on the list. There are other names just below that cluster like Calvin Ridley, Mohamed Sanu, and JuJu Smith-Schuster span from 4.43-4.67 40-yard dash times. The league’s leader in receptions last year, Michael Thomas, ran a 4.57.
Go further down the rabbit hole and you’ll find an interesting average for the top receivers in the league. If you averaged the eighteen receivers with over 1,000 yards last year, they’d measure at 6’1”, 204 pounds and run a 4.48.
Arcega-Whiteside is just as fast, slightly taller and has twenty-one extra pounds of play strength on his frame. Not only did he a run a 4.49 at his pro day, but I’ve been told at least two scouts there had him timed at 4.38 and 4.39 respectively. This can be deceiving though, as his track background lends itself well to these tests. The point is, he’s not slow by any means.
However, straight-line speed isn’t the end-all-be-all in terms of the athleticism required to win in the NFL. Arcega-Whiteside’s 7.23 3-cone reflects the tightness that can show up on certain routes. That’s where his grade suffers. Let’s start with that when analyzing his traits.
SEPARATION QUICKNESS
One area where Arcega-Whiteside will run into problems is when facing off-man coverage when assigned with hard angle cuts. To help make a distinction between the types of cuts, the picture below is from the Ohio State wide receivers manual when Darrell Hazel was on staff with some extra notes on break point technique.
Tumblr media
Arcega-Whiteside does well with his technique on most of these coaching points, but comebacks and curls come with an extra step. Those are the most difficult to master, especially if there’s some natural tightness.
Here’s two clips: one where Arcega-Whiteside gets covered up and another where he doesn’t get the throw but settles into the blindspot nicely to create space.
What isn’t taken into account in this grade is that you can win a comeback or curl route a couple of different ways. If there’s some speed scrubbed out of the break, Arcega-Whiteside’s play strength can be a difference maker. One area in his game he can improve is using his hands better at the top of ropes to keep clean and create space. If he does this more effectively, he’ll have more success escorting defenders upfield and out of his hip pocket. This would help him neutralize any advantage in short area burst the defender may have.
Clean, quick footwork allows Arcega-Whiteside to fare much better with speed and vertical cuts. This helps him produce in the red zone and other areas of the field despite being labeled as a jump ball specialist.
Overall though, he’s not particularly explosive out of his breaks, and thus the adequate grade. Technique and his understanding of leverage help mask this weakness in terms of on-field results.
Separation Quickness Grade: 3 of 7 (Adequate)
RELEASE
This is where Arcega-Whiteside sets up future success in his routes. Winning early allows him to consistently stack defenders, which leaves him in a position to frequently win with the ball in the air. He does this with purposeful and crafty footwork off the line. He’ll get his head involved in his fakes too, taking it hard into the fake before snapping off in the opposite direction.
This ability pairs nicely with the RPO slants we’ve seen the Eagles run so often with Alshon Jeffery. Combine that with his play strength and feel for boxing out and you have another big body at 6’2”, 225 pounds to depend on for quick completions in tight areas.
Arcega-Whiteside displays a keen understanding of leverage paired with the technique to displace a cornerback and get them on their heels. Against press or tight coverage, Arcega-Whiteside is often able to release *through* a defender, as opposed to releasing around them. It’s an important distinction.
If you release through a cornerbacks previously occupied space, you’re in control. Arcega-Whiteside is fantastic at doing this against inside, outside, and head-up alignments. Once he goes through a cornerback, he’s able to stack them. Once a cornerback is stacked, he doesn’t stand much of a chance in the air against the power forward.
Releases don’t just happen against press coverage; they’re an integral part of winning against off coverage as well. For instance, you need to get outside against a defender playing off and outside. Arcega-Whiteside shows the ability to attack that leverage and create a window.
Arcega-Whiteside consistently wins clean off the line and as an added bonus it aids him when setting up for contested catches at all levels of the field. It’s one of the best parts of his game should translate nicely to the NFL.
Release Grade: 6 of 7 (Above Average)
CATCHPOINT/BODY CONTROL
Nobody in college football had more contested catch wins (19) than Arcega-Whiteside did in 2018. He also drew 14 penalties. How does he do it? The basketball background helps, especially when paired with his superb tracking skills.
There’s always concern that when a contested catch maven makes the transition, the results won’t translate. I don’t believe that to be the case with Arcega-Whiteside. His excellent process when setting up jump balls shows a nuanced understanding of how to create windows at the catchpoint. Additionally, he isn’t passive when the ball is in the air. He’s a true high-pointer; aggressively attacking with a “my ball” mentality.
Filling out the route tree, Arcega-Whiteside was heavily utilized on back shoulder fades that took advantage of his releases and body control. If he won a clean release, he very frequently geared it down. This is what he was coached to do. It led to come tighter windows in some cases, but it often didn’t matter.
Overall, a lot of Arcega-Whiteside’s “contested catches” weren’t much of a contest. He won them often and you can clearly see why from his film.
Catchpoint/Body Control Grade: 6 of 7 (Above Average)
MENTAL PROCESSING
When going back through Arcega-Whiteside’s tape, I realized my initial grade may be too low. Before we get to why that is, let’s talk about what mental processing means for a wide receiver.
There are several things that fall under this umbrella. Reading coverage, altering routes, recognizing leverage, spatial awareness, finding zone voids, and so on are all factors baked into the the mental processing grade.
In the clips above, not only does Arcega-Whiteside win a clean inside release by attacking and threatening leverage to get the cornerbacks on their heels, but what he does next makes it all click. Recognizing the safeties over top, Arcega-Whiteside alters his routes. Getting “skinny” by flattening vertically or bending outside keeps him away from the safeties and also stacks the cornerbacks.
Arcega-Whiteside checks all the boxes when it comes to football intelligence.
Mental Processing Grade: 6 of 7 (Above Average)
YARDS AFTER CATCH
Arcega-Whiteside didn’t get his stats padded by bubble and tunnel screens; in fact, he didn’t get any catches in that manner. That’s encouraging when you look at his production, but also points to a weakness in his game.
This is where lack of lateral agility really shows up. That said, when he does get extra after the catch, it’s because he’s not easy to bring down. If he embraces his physicality with the ball in his hands like he does in the air, there’s room for improvement. He’s flashed that ability, but it needs to show up more often for him to over-perform his initial grade.
Yards After Catch Grade: 2 of 7 (Marginal)
Other areas where Arcega-Whiteside grade above average include play strength, hands, and competitive toughness. For wide receivers I include blocking in two buckets (play strength and competitive toughness). While great blocking technique is great, I’m also concerned with the willingness and the strength to hold up against bigger defenders. Arcega-Whiteside has excellent technique and gets after it. He never takes a play off.
This will help the offense on bubble screens, outside runs, and even inside runs. Last season we saw the Eagles use a “sniffer” in the run game, which places a wide receiver between the tackle and tight end to create an extra gap. Arcega-Whiteside would be excellent in that role.
Overall, Arcega-Whiteside projects as a starting caliber X receiver by year two that can contribute at all levels of the field in year one. That was my summary of him before the draft, so obviously his situation in Philadelphia may delay production you typically associate with those expectations.
My final evaluation of Arcega-Whiteside resulted in a firm second round grade. For where he was selected, he represented great value. Arcega-Whiteside gives the Eagles a great insurance policy that fits snugly in the offense.

Sam Darnold will be the next USC quarterback to flop in the NFL
yahoo
What a difference one season makes.
Remember, it was one year ago that USC quarterback Sam Darnold was the hottest prospect in college football. Darnold, who on Wednesday announced he will enter the 2018 NFL draft, had completed an excellent redshirt freshman campaign, capped off by nine straight wins, including a sterling comeback win against Penn State in the Rose Bowl.
This season was a far different story, so much so that it felt like we were watching two different quarterbacks. The question moving forward for the Cleveland Browns and others picking at the top of the draft is which Darnold are you getting at the next level: The confident, commanding play-maker who fired darts all over the field (like he did as a freshman) or the inaccurate, turnover machine from his sophomore year?
Tumblr media
USC quarterback Sam Darnold had three costly turnovers during the Trojans’ 24-7 defeat at the hands of Ohio State in the Cotton Bowl. (Getty Images)
As things stand today, Darnold has a laundry list of flaws. His two most glaring issues are ball security and errant decision making. His eight fumbles this season were the most by any player in the country. More important, his 22 total turnovers were the second most by any FBS quarterback.
To put that number in perspective, let’s stack it next to DeShone Kizer, when he was at Notre Dame. Kizer, who led the NFL this season with 22 interceptions, tossed nine as a redshirt sophomore and committed less than half of the turnovers that Darnold did. Granted, it’s hardly a perfect comparison, but both players are 6-foot-4, both are good athletes with strong arms and both played two years of college football against elite competition. At the very least, this comparison provides some insight into Darnold’s volatility.
To be fair, Darnold is still 20 years old and it wasn’t until his junior year of high school that he made the full-time transition under center, only to then suffer a broken foot and play just his senior season. (He had previously played both linebacker and receiver.) Darnold is a crafty quarterback possessing bonafide intangibles and upside who went an impressive 20-4 as a collegiate starter, despite losing top flight talent this season like wide receiver Juju Smith-Schuster and gadget man Adoree’ Jackson, as well as multiple starting offensive linemen.
To succeed as an NFL quarterback requires a myriad of components, not the least of which is decision making. In easily his biggest test of the season, Darnold matched up against Ohio State’s talent-rich defense in the Cotton Bowl. With his elongated release – reminiscent of one Byron Leftwich – and onslaught of bad throws, he looked outclassed, anxious and downright shook, finishing the game with two lost fumbles and an inexcusable pick-six during the Trojans’ 24-7 defeat.
youtube
The pick-six immediately draws a red flag, not because Darnold lacks the necessary arm strength, but because of the double coverage disguise that he will see more of as a pro. The Buckeyes’ defense baited him to make the throw and that’s precisely what he did.
Additionally, Darnold missed on several uncontested throws, a microcosm of a sophomore season in which his accuracy suffered and completion percentage dipped over four full points. Against Ohio State, he displayed next-to-nothing pocket presence while being sacked eight times, the majority of which should have been avoided by better pre-snap reads or throwing the ball away.
Better yet, he nearly committed another devastating pick-six. Trying to avoid a safety, he threw the football up for grabs in the waning moments of the first half. The pass fell harmlessly to the ground, but it displayed his Jay Cutler-like disregard for ball control, a central theme for Darnold and one that cannot not be ignored when evaluating a quarterback.
Whether or not Darnold achieves success at the next level remains to be seen, but there are undoubtedly significant problems in this gunslinger’s arsenal. Plenty of teams in the top 10 need a quarterback and someone will surely bet on his moxie and accuracy to become their franchise cornerstone. It’s a losing bet however and in turn, a colossal mistake.
For all his prowess, Darnold will be the next in a long line of USC quarterbacks to fail in the NFL.
